Local feels the love: Slice orders save $110 million for local pizzerias

Happy National Pizza Day!

If you’re a regular reader of The Sauce, you know that we’re all about local pizza. We interview shop owners across the country, we feature their delicious creations, and we often go deep on the history of some of the nation’s most famous shops and pizzaiolos. We. Love. Local.

When we started pulling together our new “Local feels the love” report for National Pizza Day (that’s today!), we were really pumped to discover that, through ordering on Slice, pizza fans have saved local pizzerias $110 million to date (when compared to using other third-party ordering services).

Most pizzerias in the US are independent, and many of them are on Slice. Small shops employ 1.9 million people across the country, and the average Slice customer orders from 2.5 shops, meaning your orders support plenty of jobs in your local community. What’s more is that Slice customers have tipped over $48 million for drivers, cooks, counter staff and more.

To see the full breakdown of how your Slice orders impact your local community — and also how much pizza y’all are actually ordering — check out our “Local feels the love” report.
