The Donut Pizza from Providence, Rhode Island’s famed PVDonuts follows the perfect formula: Take the finest food there is, and stuff it with the second finest, to create pure magic.

Owner/chef Lori Kettelle fills brioche dough with tomato sauce and tops it with provolone, shredded-low moisture mozzarella, smoked mozzarella, and pepperoni to create her shop’s signature savory donut. The end result is a uniquely delicious Rhode Island food mashup that ranks right up there with clam cakes and coffee milk.

There’s no denying the deliciousness of this savory and spherical “slice,” but it leaves its consumers with questions. Namely: is it a pizza or a pastry?
