Slice partners with Tony Boloney’s for Elf-inspired pizza

Pizza purists may want to cover their eyes. To celebrate the holiday season the only way we know how (hint: it’s pizza), the Slice team set out to answer a burning  question: if Buddy the Elf made a pizza, what would he put on it?

To find out, we reached out to our friends at Tony Boloney’s, the pizzeria famous for one-of-a-kind creations like the Devour Ramen and Taco Taco Taco pizzas.

North Pole Elf Pizza Tony Boloney's Mike Hauke

Within hours, owner Mike Hauke got back to us with a recipe that would make Buddy proud. Inspired by the four main food groups — that’s candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup — Mike rustled up a recipe for a “North Pole Pizza” with a chocolate spaghetti base, marshmallows drenched in powdered sugar and soda, and a frosted crust.

Our taste buds and sweet tooth suitably titillated, we headed to Tony Boloney’s Jersey City workshop to witness this Christmas miracle of a pizza.

North Pole Elf Pizza Ingredients

Not now, Arctic Puffin! We have a North Pole Pizza to make…

To start off, Mike whipped up some fresh spaghetti with semolina flour and chocolate syrup. He then cooked the chocolate spaghetti off and formed it into our pizza “crust”, adding mozzarella to bind the pasta together (this is pizza, after all!). Once formed, the base was then cooked in the oven for a little bit to set.

In the meantime, Mike simmered the sauce, anchored by chocolate chips and M&Ms. Never one to skimp on the good stuff, Mike added maple syrup, peanut butter, jelly, and candy canes to the mix.

We know what you’re thinking: Isn’t this supposed to be a dessert pizza? Don’t worry, he’s not done yet.

North Pole Elf Pizza Toppings

Watch Mike in action as he tops the pie with soda-infused marshmallows, candy canes, Lucky Charms, sprinkles, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and, of course, more candy canes:

Son of a nutcracker, word travels fast!

Once word got out about the North Pole Pizza, the folks at FoodSided, North Jersey Eats, and WCOS – 97.5 FM in North Carolina had to share the news with the world.

Taste the world’s best cup of coffee pizza for yourself!

If you’re in North Jersey and want to try the North Pole Pizza, it’s gonna be available for one day only! You can grab it for pickup and delivery from Tony Boloney’s Jersey City location. Available exclusively through Slice, it goes on sale Thursday, December 19th, available for pre-order from today!

And remember, to paraphrase Buddy, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is sharing pizza with all those near!
